ANNOUNCEMENTS

5 Sept- Dana Day will begin at 10 am and NOT 10.30. Ven Khemavaro from Wat Buddha Dhamma will be our guest.

8 Sept - visiting teacher for September is Geoff Dawson of the Ordinary Mind Zen School. Read his bio under the Wednesday night meditation.

18 Sept - Dharma discussion topic for this month will be Karma. It will be hosted by Jane Young.

Fantastic First User Training Session

On Tuesday the 14th of April, the Metta team held its first user training session. We had 7 participants from the Buddhist Council Volunteer team undertake the training session. The training consisted of a 1.5 hour active demonstration of the portals capabilities and functions.

Vesak Bathing Buddha Ceremony

Members of the International Buddhist Cham Shan Temple of Australia will be holding a Vesak Day Celebration on Saturday 2 May 2009. The Vesak festival, or Buddha’s Birthday, celebrates the birth of the Buddha, a noble prince of northern India, more than 2500 years ago.

Unibodhi Meditation Sessions 2009

In 2009 Semester 2 we plan to hold meditation sessions and dharma talks on a weekly basis during semester. The events will be held in the Holme building of Sydney University and signs will normally be posted within the building near the chemist to help you find the venue. Our regular schedule this semester is:

* Monday 12-1pm : Meditation
* Wednesday 1-2pm : Drop in Meditation

First draft of our Mission

Metta is a Pali word that means "loving kindness". The Metta group is a collective of people and organisations that strives to put loving-kindness into practice by helping others.

Metta has the following missions:

  • To help people in need through the provision of goods, finances, and volunteer aid wherever it is required
