Buddhist Festival Month

Basics

Investigate, invigorate, celebrate! May is a month of rejoicing on the Buddhist calendar as the Buddha’s life and teachings are recognised and celebrated. For the first time ever, the Buddhist community in New South Wales is coming together to showcase and share the many Buddhist cultures.

Buddhist Festival Month invites everyone to a series of free events so the whole Australian community can be part of this special time of the year. A free community expo and and the annual MITRA Conference with international teachers and Buddhist leaders will kick off the month on the first weekend of May. Be inspired, be invigorated and discover how Buddhism can be applied in everyday life.

The second major event on during Buddhist Festival Month is Reel to Real – The Sydney Buddhist Film Festival 2010 on 15 May at the Footbridge Theatre, Parramatta Road. Feast on good films like The Dhamma Brothers, Meditate and Destroy and How to Cook Your Life, which features a special discussion session afterwards with master chef Kylie Kwong.

The aims of Buddhist Festival Month are to bring the community together and to make the Buddha’s teachings more accessible and better understood.

There is something for everyone and so easy to experience!

Buddhist Festival Month is an initiative of the Buddhist Council of NSW and its members.
