Drukpa Kargyud Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism
Born in the Indian Himalayas, the great-grandaughter of Togden Shakya Shri, in a valley called Lahoul, which is also known as the "land of the blissful dakinis", Khandro Thrinlay Chodon has, all her life, quietly and diligently, practiced the Buddhist teachings of her precious family lineage, the Drukpa Kargyud Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.
Being a lay and female teacher Khandro-la brings a fresh and relevant perspective to her talks and teachings. She focuses on bringing the truths of her ancient wisdom to life in this modern world and grounding these in every intention and action. Khandro-la’s teachings skilfully inspire us to deepen our awareness and courageously expand into the path of wisdom, joy and compassion. Exuberant and caring, she has a deep understanding of the western mind.
In her adult life, Khandro-la's spiritual master, Gegen Kheyntse, gave the name "Khachodling" to Khandro-la's vision, which has become her life's work of spiritual training and activity. This title has a deep spiritual meaning and Gegen Kheyntse said to her - "when you envision dharma work it has to be as vast as the sky, for we have lifetimes to complete it"
This deep spiritual view is based in the teachings and blessings of the Drukpa Kargyud lineage. It has manifested in a series of projects that are united by a strong spiritual purpose. These include Himalayan Hermitages for Women, eye restoration for Himalayan nomads and educational grants to needy youth. Khandro-la’s family has for generations supported people in this region and she is in a unique position in this life to cherish and preserve a culture that is heading towards extinction.
