What is Metta?
Simply stated, the Metta Group aims to provide for those in need.
It does this by
- Providing methods for individuals, groups and organisations concerned with the welfare of others to communicate and collaborate with the wider community.
- Promoting the development of the mind through the sharing of Dhamma (or Buddha’s teachings)
- Encouraging individuals and groups to contribute to the welfare of others
What is the Metta Portal?
This website is also known as the Metta Portal.
It is a powerful tool which provides access to
- Detailed information about members of the Buddhist community including details of meditation sessions or teaching sessions (People, Groups and Organisations)
- Worthy causes that you can take part in or discuss with others (Take Part)
- Information about events including date, time and location (Events)
- Detailed teachings, information and other resources (Articles and Media)
- Buddhist or socially minded businesses (Services)
The Metta Group is an ongoing, not-for-profit project which is supported by the Buddhist Council of NSW. It was born out of a perceived need for greater social engagement with those in need and the lack of a online representation for Buddhist individuals, groups and organisations to the wider community. The Metta Portal project was commenced in 2008 and is run entirely by volunteers. If you would like to assist in the running of the Metta Portal, please let us know by using the ‘Contact Us’ link.
