How to use this website
The Metta Portal is essentially a directory of Buddhist people, organisations, events and business. It is dynamic as it is continually being added to and updated by those organisations and people listed within.
Anyone can use the Metta Portal. It has been designed to be accessible to those new to Buddhism as well as those who might be more familiar with it.
Find out where the closest meditation centre is or when the next Buddhist lecture is with the click of a button!
The portal is still growing and over time, more teachers, centres, organisations and events will begin to appear, so make sure you check back often.
A quick guide to sections found on this website
Search people for a listing of Buddhist teachers. You can use tradition to help you narrow down your search. Contact a teacher using contact details listed on their page. Teachers are often affiliated with centres & organisations too.
The centres & organisations section represents various temples, monasteries and organisations in the Buddhist Community. Searches can be conducted by both tradition and location simultaneously. You can find information about the background of the centre/organisation and some will even have links to their upcoming events. Information such as contact details, website and address can usually be found on the centre or organisation's profile.
Search events for a large listing of Buddhist events including talks, casual meditation, conferences, retreats and performances. You may find it easier to use the filter searches to narrow down your enquiry. For example, you can search by type of event, location and date simultaneously to help you find an event of interest. Find out more about the organiser of the event by clicking on the relevant link on the event information page.
Tips for beginners and those new to Buddhism
Because there is so much information available, it can be difficult to decide which event or centre to attend. We encourage you to make contact with a particular centre or organiser to discuss your interests and to work out whether a particular event or centre is suitable for you. Alternatively, feel free to contact us to discuss what you are looking for.
