Account Types and Applications

The real power behind the Metta portal is the ability to browse the Australian Buddhist community with ease and efficiency, as well as give back to your community by supporting engaged Buddhism. All the basic functions of the portal that allow you to search the community, contact individuals and groups by direct email, etc, can be done with the standard metta account. However there are certain circumstances when you may want apply for an account with extra privelleges. This page will describe what the extra account privelleges are, who might need one of these extra accounts, and how you can apply for one.

Public profiles are available to individuals, groups, organisations, businesses and projects which fulfill certain criteria. Their main objectives should be in line with Metta’s mission statement. Specific criteria are listed below for each profile category.

Public Profile Account Features

  • Extensive templates allow you to quickly and easily make large and informative profiles. The profile templates have been designed to allow the widest possible scope for what you may need in your profile, at no cost to ease of use. Additionally, if you have web skills, it is possible to override our templates and make a unique and personal profile.
  • All profiles come with powerful categorisation features allowing you to easily classify your profile. Classifying your public profile will make it easy for site visitors to find your content using the sites many search and filter features.
  • All profiles and most of the content pages are location enabled. This means that if you are able to specify a location for your content, users can browse your content on a google map. This makes it easier for visitors to find groups of interest to them that are in their neighborhood.
  • You can host files you would like visitors to be able to download, like pdf and pamphlets.
  • Upload media like videos of your last dharma talk, or audio files of a guided meditation.
